La vie est belle !

Teaser Tuesday & #LoIsInDaBlog — Flashback Book!

Love Bee’s “Love is in da Blog.” She has helped me discover some really fun prompts this month, including this “Teaser Tuesday”.  I love books, so why would I not want to play along?! Here are the official rules from “A Daily Rhythm” :

Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

• Grab your current read
• Open to a random page
• Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
• BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
• Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

Bee gave us the following as the #LoIsInDaBlog “add-on” today: Give us a teaser from a book you loved as a teenager
My Teaser is from Sylvia Engdahl’s “Children of the Star” trilogy, omnibus edition, pg 40
The City had more than beauty; it was where knowledge was. The Prophecy even said so: ‘Knowledge shall be kept safe within the City; it shall be held in trust until the day when the Mother Star becomes visible to us.’ ”
I loved this book as a teenager, because that is when I discovered it. In fact, I have read and re-read this book many many times. It’s by far one of my favorite sci-fi books of all time. I have read just about every book that Sylvia Engdahl has published, and I would encourage any sci-fi fans to do the same. The thing is, while her books have sci-fi settings and are extremely well researched, they are really more about the people than about the science, even though it is because of the science that you will believe these stories can happen any second in our own world. In any case, click here to check out her website if the teaser inspired you to want to know more.
