My theme – “26 Things I’d Like To See During Our Trip To France”
V is for “Vézelay”
What is this? Qu’est-ce que c’est ?
It’s yet another beautiful village in the Burgundy region of France. I think we could spend a long time in this region, there are so many places to see and wines to taste. In my “U” post yesterday I talked about UNESCO World Heritage sites. This town and its 11th century Basilica are both on that list. So naturally I want to visit this place during our time in Bourgogne.
Where is it? Où est-ce?
Vézelay is located in the Yonne département of the Bourgogne région of France.
Why do I want to go there? Pourquoi est-ce que je veux y aller ?
Since I have planned a part of our vacation in this region, I think this is a must-see. Famous for the 11th century Basilique Sainte Marie-Madeleine, the cuisine du terroir accompagnée d’un verre de Bourgogne Vézelay, (Local cuisine accompanied by a glass of the famous local wine) , not to mention a lot of beautiful countryside and randonnées (hiking), Vézelay sounds like a marvelous place to spend a little time!
And you, dear A to Z-ers? Et vous ?
Have you been to Vézelay? What was your favorite thing to do or see there? Dites-moi !
